GEPI HAS BEEN TRANSFORMED FROM A SUPPORT AGENCY TO A FINANCIAL PARTNER

GEPI is not anymore a supporting corporation but an industrial promotional agency able to transform itself, in the South, also in a merchant bank.

It has been settled by the government in order to reorganize industrial promotion agencies: the first step has in fact consisted in the appointment of the new GEPI management.

Three are the most important interventions the Government has been assigning GEPI.

First of all an intervention on the whole territory, comprising the probable GEPI shareholding to local companies having the purpose of promoting the development of the interested area, the re - use of abandoned assets, the contribution to the definition of localized incentives and opportunities for the whole territory making GEPI the subject realizing area contracts.

Secondary but not less important objectives consist in the direct support for enterprises to be promoted and in which the private subject is a majority shareholder, through the shareholding in the capital stock and in investments and through the realization of bond issues and advances on incentives provided by law.

In the new asset GEPI will be able to act as a sort of merchant bank that will represent a link between bank system and European Union.

Last but not least, GEPI will have to search for entrepreneurs, both Italian and stranger ones, interested in investing in critical areas of our country.

This is surely representing a very interesting occasion especially for stranger entrepreneurs intentioned in realizing favourable investments without running many high risks: GEPI intervention in particular areas is ensuring the availability of specific investments offering, in addition, incentives for a better realization of them.

Thanks to law 95/95 GEPI has realized with local Authorities 25 mixed companies on the whole national territory and, on the other hand, has entered into already constituted companies through capital additions. GEPI shareholding, in this case, will be not more than 4%.

The most interesting element is but the limited presence in the time of GEPI in mixed companies, because within 5 years the transfer of shares to private undertakers has been provided.

Though the described interventions an efficient co-ordination is being realized, in favour of corporations both in the start - up phase and in the successive enlargement processes, thanks to the possibility of making use of an integrate services and market opportunities package. The enterpriser will this way be able to make use of only one branch through which he will be permitted to have access to all other incentive instruments for undeveloped areas, choosing at the same time the most adapted to his situation without being forced to apply to other people.
